Dog Obedience Training

Classes now forming! Please contact us!

In addition to helping you care for your animals, Bow Wow University is also dedicated to training your canine companions. We offer a variety of training sessions for our clients. Not every team of human and canine has the same learning abilities. We seek the right training tools that fit your abilities.

Some dogs are better suited for specific collars than others. We take pride in working with each team to develop the right methods that will form the essential relationship with humans and their four-legged friends.

Our private lessons are a great choice for people who:

  • Cannot attend classes on a weekly basis due to their work schedules
  • Need help with a serious behavioral issue such as aggression, shyness, or overall uncontrollable behaviors
  • Have problems within the house or other location that would not be readily resolved in a public class such as housebreaking issues, crate training, excessive barking, difficulty in greeting guests, etc.
  • Have medical concerns that would preclude them from attending public classes
It is often difficult for a trainer to solve problems in the home when he or she has never been there. What an owner perceives what precipitated a dog's behavior is often the exact opposite of what a trainer might see. Owners may lack the ability to detect or connect certain patterns that cause problems. A trainer's perspective is focused and objective on correcting unwanted behaviors and what has triggered them.

Bow Wow U will come to your home and provide you with private sessions that are tailored to your concerns and your lifestyle. Our semi-private sessions are great for individuals who wish to train with friends, but cannot work schedules that permit them to attend public classes. We offer indoor, at your home, outdoor, or location specific training. We also encourage these sessions for children in the home who cannot go out in the evening for public classes yet desire to actively participate in your dogs' training.

Sessions may include playgroup or even CGC Evaluations. Sessions are 6-week one-hour sessions tailored to your specific training needs. From puppy to advanced.

If you experiencing issues in your home with a pet such as housebreaking or aggression, we can help solve issues with a comprehensive behavioral consultation. Consultations are done in your home with family members in order to determine trigger-specific behaviors within the home.

Some important things to remember when considering a trainer:

  • Amateur and hobbyist dog trainers are generally people who love dogs and show concern about them, but generally lack the understanding of canine hierarchy, defined aggresive personalities, and dog psychology. Respectively, they may be able to help get your dog to sit, but lack the ability to assist someone who has a dog that is a fear biter or has separational anxieties.
  • When you desire results and are paying, go to a trainer who is in this profession as a career. Interview your trainer and ask questions. If they are professionals, they should be able to address your needs or concerns. Not every dog is going to learn in the same fashion. Therefore, a professional training company should be versed in all forms of training and use of tools.
